September Blog

September Blog

We are making our way swiftly through September already.
The days are flying by.
It’s Time to get back into a nimue skin care routine after the long period of lockdown.
The kids are going back to school which should in theory give you a chance to get things more organised and set some time aside for yourself. Hopefully the children are ready to go back and see and their friends and start the new academic term after a long lazy summer.
If they are anxious we can offer some relaxation techniques to help calm them. We also do student specials of back massage or facials for them to make them feel relaxed and recharged. Ask in salon for student discount codes.
If your teenager is having any skin issues or teenage breakouts. We can help with the Nimue  skin youth range . This helps to balance hormonal skin and give them the confidence they need to tackle the big wide world especially after lockdown. Ask one of our skin specialists for details.
Now – time for you.
As the seasons merge and the last drop of summer leaves us it’s a great time to revamp your skincare. A few key products can make a huge difference and get the results you’ve been waiting for. The Powder Room Birstall offer a free Nimue skin consultation to outline your needs and concerns. The professional salon facials are amazing and along side a good home care routine will have your skin glowing in no time.
The facials not only deliver outstanding results they are relaxing too, so you can recharge your energy levels at the same time.
Our tropical themed treats are still available as we are expecting a heat wave in September apparently so if you missed out on your summer holiday then enjoy these specially designed tropical treats for a while longer.
Come and visit us in salon or on our face book or insta pages
We wish you a happy September and hope to see you soon for some treatments and a catch up.

Rest assured …..

Dear client,

We wanted to reach out and let you know that we are doing everything to make sure The Powder Room is running as efficiently and safely as possible.
If you are having any doubts about visiting us and wondering what happens at your appointment we can help put your mind at rest.

We are currently only able to offer body treatments at present due to the local lockdown in place in the local district of Kirklees.
We hope this will be lifted soon and we will be able to offer you our full treatment menu.

Until then however we have made some limited edition tropical treatments and have discounted some during august, please see website, Facebook or previous emails for more details.

So what is different at the salon…..
We take your temperature on arrival and you need to wear a mask and fill out a simple form to comply with our insurance guidelines.
You are then escorted to your treatment area where your therapist will look after you during your treatment.
We are fastidious with our hygiene protocols and you are extremely safe in the salon. We have limited the number of people in the main salon areas and it will only be you and the therapist in the room.
NO NEED TO WORRY  JUST COME AND HAVE SOME ME TIME .

Along with the usual cleaning we have put screens in place and we wear a visor while we ask you to wear a mask.
We are cleaning door knobs regularly and all treatment areas after each client, all tools are sterilised and towels laundered.
We hope this helps put your mind at rest  if you have any questions or worries we are happy to help, just give us a call on 01924470330 to speak to either Myself, Kelly or Aimee.
Thank you for your continued support and loyalty at this difficult and uncertain time.

Our carbon footprint

Our carbon footprint

Here at The Powder Room we are concerned about our carbon footprint and wanted to share with you how we are doing our bit to protect the environment and become more eco friendly.

We have put a few things in place in our everyday protocols such as :

– Disposables – we use washable items in our facials like mitts and pads so we limit our consumable waste.– we use wooden / paper stemmed cotton buds which are biodegradable

Clinical PPE  – We use wipeable aprons instead of disposable plastic ones , We use washable fabric face masks to reduce waste and pollution, we have new luxury wipeable bed covers and paper roll to minimise laundry.

.

Cleaning – we use eco friendly cleaning products in the salon to limit toxic chemicals being released into the environment.

Laundry – we use natural soap nuts and essential oils for our laundry to reduce chemicals in the laundry process being flushed into our oceans.

Recycling – We recycle all our plastics , glass and paper products locally.

– Loo Roll – We have recently started using a new toilet roll supplier called ”Who gives a crap” its recycled and ethically sourced, also individually wrapped in jazzy recycled paper. we love it !

Our product ranges have their own attributes too :
nimue the facial skincare range uses recyclable plastics and has a refill system in place to reduce single use plastic.
Neal’s Yard is vegan and approved by the soil association and fair trade. It also supports a number of ethical causes through its company.
We are constantly looking for ways to improve our environmental practices and will keep you updated on any new ideas we have. We would encourage you to look at ways you could reduce your waste at home should you wish to change a few things to make a big difference.
Some examples are:
Replace cotton wool pads with bamboo ones they are washable and perfect for home use – we now sell these in salon.
– We also have the wooden stemmed and paper cotton buds and bamboo toothbrushes at home.
– you can Lower your laundry cycle temperature to 40 degrees
– Recycle bottle tops by sending them to LUSH either by post or take into store
– Replace Cling film with beeswax wraps at home (you can buy online or make yourself look on youtube)
– Use Bamboo cleaning brushes for washing pots instead of plastic scourers
– Visit refill shops in your local area to fill your laundry liquids , washing up liquids , shampoo and conditioners, etc
– Use shampoo bars and soap bars instead of plastic bottles of shampoo etc
– Avoid buying bottled water where possible and invest in a refillable water bottle to carry around with you.
We all play a part in the big picture and anything we can do will have an impact however small.

Thank you for reading this blog and I hope it has given you some inspiration.
